So I’ve decided that my next long term big goal is WEG 2018 with Eddie.
So that means I need to move up a level every year and a half or there abouts.
A girl can dream right?
Alright people. I’ve got a bit question… Yes I know… another one. But I am a little confused.
Firstly: Teeth are fine, done a month or 2 ago, no soreness, ridden in an egg butt snaffle and grackle noseband cause his twists his jaw and rings. Occasionally does it xc, but not as much.
Anyway, Been show jumping (schooling/competing) for about 2yrs now and I’m fed up with him and his little antics.
When I’m schooling on the flat I get him to lengthen and shorten in the canter, which he does really well. When I ask him to come back to a shorted stride he does it well (comes under himself and carries himself well and no resistance) So when I ask him to do it when we show jump, it’s a different story.
He throws his head up and pulls out, which means he pulls me OUT of the saddle and forward, then and hollows over the jump. He doesn’t rush. I KNOW its not a strength issue, its more of a ‘I do what I want, and I don’t care what you say’
I was thinking of trying a fluffy thing on his nose first? Might keep his head down a bit? and a full cheek snaffle?
Anyway, just after some thoughts. Don’t shoot me down, I’ve exhausted all other possibilities as I said above. My dad is my ‘coach’ but he’s just gone o/s for 9 months and he said something does need to change, but that was as far as the convo went. My dad is also Eddie’s dentist (WIN!)
